Leaving Egypt

Asalam Alaikum/ Hello All

My husband just informed me he is bringing us back. He said he can't handle it any more. He is all alone and he needs his wife and kids with him. InshaAllah he will bring us back by the end of the year, but he may have to wait till after taxes. But he wants to do it as soon as possible. He said this was to hard on him and its enough.

I don't know what to feel right now. I miss my husband and long for him, but I am happy here. I don't really want to go. I have never seen my kids so happy. I am excited to see my husband and to be together again. We had many problems before I came and I think this little separation taught us both a thing or two and inshaAllah I think our marriage will be better now. You never fully appreciate someone till you don't have them.

I told him I wanted to spend Ramadan and Eid here. I think it will take him that long to get the money and apartment together anyways. If things go well for him he can bring us back after that if not he will have to wait for the tax money. But he doesn't want to wait that long. I understand how he is feeling and I want him to. I just want him here.

Allah knows best and I trust Allah. I prayed the other night to bring me and my husband together. And he has answered my prayers, just not in the way I wanted. I think this may be for the best, me and my husband are both still young and need each other. The kids need their father. The other night my 1 1/2 year old woke up crying for his father.

This separation has done us both some good and I will miss it here, but its time to go be with my husband. Allah knows I wanted to make hijrah and stay, but it is just not my time. We have tried many times before to do this and it never worked out, this time I thought it might and we got pretty far, but its not to be. Allah knows best.

Please keep my family in your dua.

Stupid Internet

Asalam Alaikum/Hello all

Sorry for not being around my internet was down for 16 days. GRRRRRRRRRRR I called the internet café that provides me internet and they said the problem was with my computer. I know it wasn't but they would not budge. So I went and bought a new Ethernet jack. Guess what still not internet. My husbands uncle is an engineer, he looked at my computer and he said nothing was wrong with my computer. But they still say it is mine. Finally I take my computer to them and they hook it up in their shop and low and behold the internet works so it is not my computer after all. HMMMMM!!! So they say we will get it fixed by tomorrow. That was last Tuesday. We called everyday and they kept saying tomorrow inshaAllah. Finally last night they fixed it. GRRRRRRRR I am so angry with them. But alhumdillah it is fixed now and inshaAllah it will stay that way. Got to love live in Egypt lol. I do really just these little things you have to deal with I could do without.

I fast

Asalam Alaikum
I will take suhoor in 4 hours. I will start my fast in the morning to ask Allah to help our Muslim brothers and sisters being killed right now. Those who are also fasting in this mass fast organized by Amina http://dying2die.spaces.msn.com I commend you. This may not seem like much, but to Allah inshaAllah it means alot. May He help those in need. May He give those who lost loved ones piece of mind know they were martyrs. And may He give those who are causing all this blood shed the lowest part of Hell. Ameen

Now to write some of my feelings on this. I was going to write something the other day, but I was beyond angry and it would of been a very, ummmmm how can I put this, Israel(Jew) bashing post.

I was watching the news here and they show way more then they do in America. Little children being carried out of a fallen building. Their little lifeless bodies telling a sad story that should not have to be told. Then you see the leaders of Israel laughing it up at a press conference. What do you call these little children, ohhhhhhh yeah I remember causalities of war, no wait thats not it, oh yeah their terrorist.

As I sit here and right this, one of my sons are sleeping peacefully beside me. Alhumdillah he is healthy, but if could of very well been him being carried out lifeless, all because he is a Muslim.

Oh yeah they give excuses for such actions, but in the end of the day babies are still being killed. I am not condoning any acts of violence by Muslims in any way, please don't think I am. But is this taking it to far are am I just on the wrong side. I am always the one for a peaceful situation and have always wished that Israel could make peace with the middle east. But I see that they don't want to. If they did they would not be killing these innocent people over 2 soldiers.

I am not trying to Jew bash here but this is not right. And I really hate to use this word, but this is jihad. And no matter who many lives you take from the Muslims you will not win. God has promised the Muslims victory.

So till our victory comes, I fast. Its my little way of helping. May Allah except it from me and the rest who are fasting. Amen

I need a kick in the butt

I am curently taking Arabic lessons and am far behind were I should be. The teacher is great mashaAllah it is me not doing my homework. I need a kick in the butt lol. Well two my kids keep me busy and distract me from studing. Plus I am a neet freak and very organized, lol I have a chore calander, and I try to keep to it. Today I was behind with cleaning because yesterday I went to my husbands grandmothers for a visit. So I had laundry to do today, then yesterdays chores, dust and mop floors. May not seem like much but it is here. Our automatic washer is broken so I am using the old fashion washer. When they are done I have to sock them in water to rinse and ring them out by hand. Then hang them out as we don't have a dry, lol hardly anyone is Egypt uses a dry. My mother in law said why get one when we have the sun. Then I had to vacume and mop. We don't have carpet we have tile floors with huge rugs down. So it takes me a little bit more time, but alhumdillah not to much. This is on top my everyday chores, you know the kitchen, straighten up(all day I have 2 kids under 3 lol), cook, ect..... Plus I try and exersice everyday or at least every other day. So that does not leave much time for studing. Well I can't lie, I do spend time on the internet, but I need a break ya know. Anyways I will try harder, please pray for me. I am learning pretty fast, but I could do better.

My weight loose diary

I started seriously trying to loose weight in January, to be exact January 27th. I weigh myself on the 27th of every month to see how I am going. My weigh in today is ok I am 203 lbs. I started this journey at 247 lbs. Before that I was 255 lbs. So I have lost a total of 52 lbs in the last 1yr and 7mths, 44lbs being sense January. I have 53 lbs more to go. InshaAllah(God willing) I will loose those before my husband comes from America(inshaAllah that will be soon, we still am not sure on the date). I want to increase my exercises. My oldest son goes today care and I was taking him and going to get him everyday, but I am potty training him so I haven't sent him in the past week and I have noticed my weight not moving. You see I live on the 7th floor and we don't have an elevator, so that is a lot of stair climbing. But Saturday he goes back potty trained or not, so I am hoping that will boost my weight loose again. I did have to many cookies last night so I need to exercise a little more today, but things happen. Another thing that has helped me is knowing that my body has rights over me. I have been trying to follow the Sunnah when eating 1/3 air, 1/3 water and 1/3 food. It has helped. And knowing that my husband will be please and pleasing my husband is pleaseing Allah. So inshaAllah I will do this, I just need to try a little harder and make more dua. Well that is were I am at with that.

A Change

I am changing this blog from an Islamic site to a personal blog. Of course dawah is very important, but dawah does not have to be tought like a lesson. Being the best Muslim and example I can be is the best dawah anyone can give. I was going to start another space, because I need a personal blog, to vent, to ramble, to just talk, know what I mean, but I can't keep up with both. I have done some changes, but have left all the old blog entrys about Islam that you can browse through if you like. This space will be much different from now on, you all will get to know the real me a little bit more. My views, my silly little qurks, my ideas, ect...... I will still post things on Islam, as Islam is the most important thing in my life. Just the theme of the space is no longer stictly an Islamic space. Hope you all will like the change and/or understand.

Impartial Search For Truth, Avoiding Bias And Observing The Accepted Ethics Of Debate

Shaykh Saleh Abdullah bin Humaid

Islamic Principles and Rules of Debate
© Al-Manara 1994

What ensures a straightforward and fruitful debate is a resolute search for truth, not allowing one's own desires or the public's to take control. A sensible person, Muslim or non-Muslim, is expected to seek truth and to avoid error sincerely.

Most of the well-known Muslim scholars were very careful in this regard. Al-Imam al-Shafi`i, for instance, used to say: "I never talked with someone but sincerely wished that Allah keep him, protect him from sin and misdeed and guide him; and I never debated with someone but sincerely wished that we would come upon truth, regardless of whether he or I should be the one to think of it first."

Abu Hamed al-Ghazali says also in this connection: "Cooperation in seeking truth is inherent to religion, but sincerity in the pursuit of truth can be distinguished by certain conditions and signs. A diligent seeker of truth may be compared to one who is looking for his lost camel. It would be immaterial for him if he or another person should be the one to find it. Likewise, a sincere truth-seeker would perceive his partner as a helper rather than an adversary, and would be grateful to him if he should guide him to truth."

In another place of Volume 1 of Al-Ihya al-Ghazali says: "Over-enthusiasm is a mark of corrupted scholars, even when the case they are defending is true. By showing excessive enthusiasm for truth and their contempt of their oppontents, the latter would be stimulated to retaliate and react in the same manner. They would be driven to stand for falsehood and to be true to the label attributed to them. If the champions of truth had spoken kindly to them avoiding publicity and humiliation they would have succeeded in winning them over. But as it is, a person who enjoys a place of prestige is strongly inclined to preserve his position by attracting followers, and the only way to that is to boast and to attack or curse adversaries."

To conclude, a debate must be conducted fairly and calmly, without showing any excitement or roughness, and without compromising the chances of arriving at the truth. Debaters should avoid spiteful argumentation and word play, as such behaviour poisons the atmosphere, arouses hostile attitudes and may well end in deadlock

I Would Like to Repent, But!…

Shaykh Muhammad Salih al-Munajjid

The Conclusion of the Book "I Would Like to Repent, But!..."
Translated by Syed Iqbal Zaheer
Taken From:
http://www.orst.edu/groups/msa/books/repent.html

Dear brother! O slave of Allah! Allah has opened the door of repentance, so why should you not enter? "Repentance has a door whose span is the distance between East and West," says a hadith; (and in another version "its span is the distance traveled in 70 years"). "It will not be closed until the sun rises from the West."

Listen to the call of Allah: "O My slaves! You sin morning and evening and I forgive all your sins. So call on Me, I will forgive you all your sins."

Allah extends His Hands in the night to forgive the sinner of the day and extends His Hands in the day to forgive the sinner of the night. And He loves to hear excuses. So why don't you turn to Him?

How beautiful are the words of the repenting man who says: "I beseech You O Lord, in the name of Your honor, and (by) my ignominy that You have mercy on me. I beseech You in the name of Your Strength and my weaknesses. Your Self-sufficiency and my dependence. To you I submit my sinning, guilty forelock. You have many slaves apart from me. But I have no Master save you. There isn't any refuge but with You nor escape from You except to You. I plead You O Lord, in the manner of the pleading of a destitute, and entreat You in the manner of a broken, downtrodden man. I beseech You in the manner of a blind man in fear. This is a supplication, O Lord, from one whose head is bowed down before your Majesty, whose nose is in the dust, whose eyes are filled with tears and whose heart has submitted."

Consider this story:

lt. is reported by a trustworthy man of the past that as he was passing through a street he saw the door of a house open. A woman came out with a child who was crying and pleading while she was pushing him out. She left him outside the house and slammed the door shut in his face. The child left the door and walked a distance. Then he stopped, looked about, began to think, and not finding any other place but his own house where he could take shelter nor anyone who would care for him as his mother would, he returned to his house dejected, sad. He found the door shut. He sat at the sill, put his cheek on the threshold and slept with tear marks on his cheeks. He was in this state when the mother opened the door. When she saw him in this state she could not control herself. She bent down, grabbed him to her bosom, began to kiss him and say in tears: "Oh my boy! My dear child! My very soul! Where were you? Didn't I tell you not to disobey me? Do my bidding, and don't force me to punish you, while I hate to do that." Then she carried the child back and closed the door behind her.

That is the story of a mother and a child: the story of disobedience, punishment, return, forgiveness and unbound love. But the Prophet, salla Allah u alihi wa sallam, has told us that: "Allah loves His creation more than a woman does her child." In fact, there is no comparison between the love of a mother for her child and that of Allah whose Mercy encompasses everything. Allah, azza wa jall, is immensely pleased with a man when he repents and turns to Him. And we shall never be deprived of anything by a Lord who is more pleased with the repenting man, than that man..

"..who was traveling through an arid land. He dismounted and took shelter under a tree seeking some rest. He lay there with his beast, loaded with food and water, at his side. But when he awoke, lo! The beast was gone! He began to search for it frantically. He climbed a hill but couldn't see a trace of it. He climbed another hill and still no trace of it. Finally, when hunger and thirst overtook him, he said, 'Let me go back to the tree, and lay down there until death overtakes me.' So he went back to the tree, and lay there with eyes closed - in total despair. And lo! As he opened his eyes and raised his head, there the beast was, right before his very eyes, with all the food and water loaded on it intact! He rushed to it and picked up its halter. (Can you imagine his happiness) But lo! Allah is happier with a man when he turns to Him seeking His forgiveness, than the man who found his beast when he had lost all hopes."

Know it, my dear brother, that true repentance of every sin also brings with it humility and devotion to Allah, and that pleading of a penitent is very dear to Allah. So that what follows after repentance is obedience of a greater degree to the extent that sometimes Satan regrets that he enticed him into that sin at all. That is why you will see that those who repent become very much changed personalities.

Allah does not abandon a man who comes to Him a penitent. Compare the situation with that of a father who used to look after his son with great love and care, providing him with the best of clothing, food and toys. Then one day the father sent him on an errand. But, as the boy was walking an enemy took hold of him, tied him and carried him away to the land of the enemies. There his master treated him exactly in the opposite manner. So that whenever the boy remembered his father and his treatment, his eyes swelled with tears, and the heart with pain. He was in this condition of ill-treatment at the hands of his enemies, when their caravan happened to pass by his father's place again. As he looked around he found his father standing nearby. He ran to him and threw himself at him crying "My father! My very father!". His master followed him and was trying to pull him away, but the boy clung to his father, refusing to let him go. What do you think of this father? Do you think he will abandon him to the enemy, refusing to take back the child? If not, then what is your opinion of the Lord whose love of His creation is greater than the love of a father for his child? When a slave of His runs away from his enemies, and throws himself at the threshold of His door, rolling down in dust before him, saying: "O my Lord! Have mercy upon him who has no one to show Mercy save You, no Helper save you, no refuge save You, no Savior save You, I am Your slave, in Your need, dependent on You, beggar at Your door, You are the refuge, with You is the shelter, there is refuge but with You, nor escape from You except to You" then surely the Lord is not going to turn him back empty handed.

Come along then. On to the good deeds, to virtuous living, in the company of the righteous, steering yourself safe from deviations after the right direction, and misguidance after guidance. And Allah is with you.

Greatness of Allah subhaanahu wa ta`aalaa

Imam Ibn ul Qayyim al Jawziyyah

Quoted in "The Weakening of Faith - Its Symptoms – Causes & Cure" by Shaykh Muhammad Saleh al-Munajjid

Ibn Al-Qayyim described Allah's Greatness, saying, He governs the affairs of the various kingdoms and He commands and forbids, creates, sustains, gives death, gives life, gives power, strips power (to and from whom He wills) and alternates the night and day. He gives varying fortunes to people and alternates governments (and states), destroying some and bringing some into existence. His Command and Power are dominant in the heavens and their zones, the earth and all that which is on and in it, in the seas and in the air. His Knowledge has encompassed everything and He counted everything. He hears all types of voices and they do not confuse Him. Rather, He hears each voice in its distinct language and need, and no voice will make Him busy from fulfilling the need of another, and no need will ever escape His Perfect Knowledge (and His Power to deliver). He does not become bored because of the many needs of those who need. His Sight encompasses all that which there is. He sees the movement of a black ant on a barren rock during a dark night. To Him, the Unseen is uncovered end the secret is secret no more, "Whosoever is in the heavens and on Earth begs of Him (its needs from Him). Every day He has a matter to bring Forth (such as giving honor to some, disgrace to some, life to (some, death to some, etc.)." [55:29] He forgives an evil deed, makes depression vanish and brings reprieve from disasters, relief for whoever needs it, wealth for the poor, guidance for the misguided, light for the lost, help for he who is desperate, fullness for the hungry, cover for the barely clothed, cure for the ill and ease for he who suffers. He accepts he who repents, gives reward for he who does good, gives aid for he who was dealt with injustice, destroys an arrogant person, covers mistakes, gives safety after fear end elevates some people and humiliates others. If those who inhabit His heavens and His earth and all those whom He created, whether mankind or the Jinns, had hearts similar to the most pious heart, His Kingdom will not increase. If all His creation, whether mankind or the Jinns, had hearts similar to the heart of the most wicked heart, this will not decrease from His Kingdom. Also, if all those who inhabit His heavens and His earth, all mankind and all the Jinns, the dead and the living, stand up on one strip of land and each asks Him for his need, and He then fulfils their needs, this will not decrease from what He has a bit. He is the First, nothing is before Him, the Last, nothing is after Him, the Most High, nothing is above Him, and the Most Near, nothing is nearer than Him. He, Exalted and Ever High as He is, is the Best Whom one can and should remember, the only One Who deserves to be worshiped and thanked, the Kindest of all those who own and the Most generous of all those who are asked to give. He is the King Who has no partner, the One Who has no competitor, the Samad (Self-Sufficient) Who has no offspring, and the Ever High, none like unto Him. Everything perishes save His Face and every kingship is bound to perish except His. He will only be obeyed by His Leave, and His Knowledge uncovers all disobedience to Him. When He is obeyed, He thanks for it, and when He is disobeyed, He grants forgiveness (for those who truly repent to Him). Every punishment from Him is just and every bounty is a grace. He is the Closest Witness and the Nearest One with His Perfect Care. He controls the forelocks of everything and has the full records of all deeds end the books of all ages. The hearts are unmasked to Him and the secret is unveiled. His giving and punishing is merely a Command, "Verily, His Command, when He intends a thing, is only that He says to it, ‘Be, and it is!’" [36:82].

Everlasting Life in Paradise

Dr. `Abdullah al-Shimemeri

Descriptions of Paradise from the Qur'aan and Hadeeth
© Abul Qasim Publishing House & Al-Saheeh International

"But those who have faith and work righteousness, they are companions of the Garden, abiding in it eternally." [2:82]

"There, no sense of fatigue shall touch them, nor shay they [ever] be evicted." [15:48]

"They will not taste death therein, except the first death, and He will preserve them from the penalty of the Blazing Fire. [It will be] a bounty from your Lord. That will be the supreme achievement!" [44:56-57]

"As for those who believe and work righteous deeds, they will have the gardens of Paradise as hospitality. Eternally therein, they will not desire any other [place]." [18:107-108]

"Their Lord gives them glad tidings of a mercy from Himself and good pleasure and of gardens for them wherein is lasting enjoyment." [9:21]

Abu Hurayrah reported that Allah’s Apostle (peace be upon him) said:

"He who gets into Paradise [will be made to enjoy such an everlasting] bliss that he will neither become destitute nor will his clothes wear out nor will his youthfulness decline." [Muslim]

Abu Sa`eed al-Khudree and Abu Hurayrah both narrated that Allah’s Messenger (peace be upon him) said:

"There will be an announcer [in Paradise] who will make this announcement, ‘Verily, there is in store for you [everlasting] health. You will never fall ill, and you will live [forever] and never die. You will remain young and never grow old. You will always live in affluent circumstances and never become destitute.’ [This is explained in] the words of Allah, the Exalted and Glorious, ‘And it will be announced to them, ‘This is the Paradise you have been made to inherit for what you used to do.’’[7:43]" [Muslim]

Abu Sa`eed reported that Allah’s Messenger (peace be upon him) said:

"Death will be brought on the Day of Resurrection in the form of a white-colored ram." [Abu Kuraib made the addition, "Then it will be made to stand between Paradise and Hell." So far as the rest of the hadeeth is concerned, there is perfect agreement between narrators.] "It will be said to the people of Paradise, ‘Do you recognize this?’ They will raise up their necks, look towards it and say, ‘Yes, it is death.’ Then a command will be given to slaughter it, and it will be said, ‘O people of Paradise, there is everlasting life for you and no death.’ Then [addressing] the people of Hellfire, it will be said, ‘O people of Hellfire, there is everlasting life for you and no death.’" Allah’s Messenger (peace be upon him) then recited the following verse pointing wit his hand to this [material] world: "Warn them of the day of regret, when their affairs will be decided. They are unmindful, and they do not believe." [19:39] [Muslim]

Abu Hurayrah narrated that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said:

"It will be said to the people of Paradise, ‘O people of Paradise, eternity [for you] and no death!’ To the people of the Fire [it will be said], ‘O people of the Fire, eternity [for you] and no death!’" [Al-Bukhaari]

Creation is in Need of Allah

Man always looks for what benefits him and what protects him from harm. However, to accomplish this, man must be able to realize what is harmful. He must then know whom he should need, trust, and love so that he can attain what is beneficial as well as to feel good about his choice. He also must know the proper and good approach that would make him achieve this goal. This latter condition requires that man:

a) Know about harm

b) What ways can be used to drive harm away

Certainly, man can have no better guidance than that which comes from the One Who had perfected everything, and the One who Has no deficiency in Himself and in His Attributes. The One Who is Ever-Living and Who does not die. There can be no One better than the One Who Has no need for anything; the One Who is rich; the Giver; the One who, after all, controls man's soul. Man is so poor to Him. He is Allah, the True and only God. Man can bring harm to himself if he seeks other than Allah for help. Allah is the One Who can help man drive away any harm for it cannot occur without His Will and His Power.

Allah (SW) sent down His Books and chose His Messengers to guide man to:

a) Know His Lord as He (SW) had explained about Himself, and

b) Seek Him Alone while living in accordance with His plan

Knowing Allah's Names and Attributes liberates man from worshiping any form of creation because creation is weak and is in need of The Creator, Allah. The knowledge about Allah leads man to know that he is created to live according to Allah's way as revealed to the last Messenger Muhammad (sallaallaahu `alaihi wa sallam). This Revelation contains a complete code of life. Everything that is beneficial or harmful is established so that man can center his life around this Revelation. If man commits wrong and knows that Allah is Oft-Forgiving he would turn to Him and to Him alone seeking His forgiveness: "Know, therefore, that there is no God Who deserves to be worshiped except Allah; and ask forgiveness for your sins." (Qur'an, 47:19)

It is wrong to think or believe that Allah created other 'gods' besides Him so that man turns to them for help; loves them or fear them, etc. He is the same God of all nations. He does not order that people should make of stars, sun, fire, Jesus, Moses, etc. gods besides Him. He (Most Exalted) cannot be 'contradictory'. He has one way (religion) that calls man to surrender his will only to Him. He (SW) warned that if man (even Muhammad sallaallaahu `alaihi wa sallam) would take partners with Him, then his work will fail and will be among losers:

"And verily, it had been revealed to you (O Muhammad) as has been revealed to those before you. If you join others in worship with Allah (then) surely (all) your deeds will be in vain and you will certainly be among the losers. Nay! But worship Allah and be among grateful." (Qur'an, 39:65-66)

Let us know what Muhammad (sallaallaahu `alaihi wa sallam), the man-Prophet, who knew Allah best, used to say:

"O Allah, I seek refuge in You for Your Pleasure and against Your Wrath, and in Your Forgiveness and against Your Punishment and in You from You, I cannot Praise You as You can Praise Yourself." (Muslim, Abu Dawoud, at-Tirmidhi, ibn Majah)

"I have surrendered myself to You, I have directed my face to You, I have entrusted my affairs to You, I have compelled my back to refuge in You, in want and in fright of You, there is no resort nor survival from You except (in turning) to You. I have faith in Your book (i.e. the Qur'an) which You brought down and in the Prophet (Muhammad) you have sent." (Al-Bukhari, Muslim)

When we read in the Qur'an that:

"Whatever of Mercy (i.e. of good), Allah may grant to mankind, none can withhold it, and whatever He may withhold, none can grant it thereafter. And He is the All-Mighty, the All-Wise." (Qur'an, 35:2)

And when we read that:

"If Allah touches you with hurt, there is none can remove it but He; and if He intends any good for you, there is none who can repel His favor which He causes it to reach whomsoever of His slaves He will, and He is the Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful." (Qur'an, 10:117)

We should be motivated to return to Him Alone at times of ease and at times of hardship.

And when we read that:

"If Allah helps you none can overcome you, and if He forsakes you, who is there, after Him, that can help you. And in Allah (alone) let believers put their trust." (Qur'an, 3:160)

The Qur'an, therefore, leads man to a true liberation from any false attachment. It brings peace to the heart. It helps the believer against hypocrisy and all forms of dishonesty. Imagine, for example, a believer facing a problem at work. He sees wrong and faces unlawful practices. He does not fear rejecting what is wrong. He knows that the job is only a means to gain his sustenance. While he may be unable to correct what is wrong, he knows well that Allah is the One Who provides. If he leaves his job for the sake of Allah, Allah will give him a better one. Allah (SW) said:

"And whosoever fears Allah and keeps his duty to Him. He will make a way for him to get out (from) every (difficulty), and He will provide him from (sources) he could never imagine." (Qur'an, 65:2-3)

The above texts, necessitates that man must depend upon Allah (SW) asking Him Alone for assistance. It also requires that man must love Allah and worship Him Alone to gain His pleasure and His help. Is it not true that the people who consider this life as the "Final Goal" end up worshiping many things in it? You see them so careful about "having it all". They torture themselves: pain, difficulty, constant worry, keeping their hands in the banks for loan after loan to keep up with the "demands of development". They are under the constant threat of fore-closure. They constantly see poverty in front of their eyes. The Prophet (sallaallaahu `alaihi wa sallam) said:

"Allah says: Son of Adam: Fill your time with My worship and I will fill your heart with richness, and end off your poverty. But if you donot, I would make your hands fully busy (i.e. in worldly affairs) and I would not end off your poverty." (At-Tirmidhi said that it is a good hadeeth)

Our purpose of existence on earth is more meaningful than being slaves to worldly gains. There can be no meaningful life better than that prescribed by our Creator Allah. Every act done according to Allah's way is an act of worship. Man is the beneficiary and Allah is in no need:

"O mankind! It is you who stand in need of Allah, but Allah is Rich (Free of all wants and needs), Worthy of All Praise." (Qur'an, 35:15)

Contemplate And Be Thankful

Remember the favours of Allah upon you and how they surround you from above and below - indeed, from every direction."And if you would count the graces of Allah, never could you be able to count them." (Qur'an 14:34)

Health, safety, nourishment, clothing, air, and water - these all point to the world being yours, yet you do not realize it. You possess all that life has to offer, yet remain ignorant."He has completed and perfected His Graces upon you, [both] apparent [i.e. Islamic Monotheism, and the lawful pleasures of this world, including health, good looks, etc.] and hidden [i.e. one's faith in Allah, guidance for doing righteous deeds and also the pleasures and delights of the Hereafter in Paradise, etc.]." (Qur'an 31:20)

You have at your disposal two eyes, a tongue, lips, two hands, and two legs."Then which of the blessings of your Lord will you both [Jinns and men] deny?" (Qur'an 55:13)

Can you picture yourself walking without feet? Should you take it lightly that you slumber soundly while misery hinders the sleep of many? Should you forget that you fill yourself with both delicious dishes and cool water while the pleasure of good food and drink is impossible for some, due to sickness and disease? Consider those faculties of hearing and seeing with which you have been endowed. Look at your healthy skin and be grateful that you have been saved from diseases that attack it. Reflect on your powers of reasoning and remember those that suffer from mental ailments.

Would you sell your ability to hear and see for the weight of Mount Uhud in gold, or your ability to speak for huge castles? You have been given abundant favours, yet you feign ignorance. Notwithstanding warm bread, cool water, easy sleep, and good health, you remain despondent and depressed. You think about what you do not have and are ungrateful for what you have been given. You are troubled by a loss in wealth, yet you have the key to happiness and many blessings. Contemplate and be thankful."And also in your ownselves [are signs], will you not then see?" (Qur'an 51:21)

Reflect upon yourself, your family, your friends, and the entire world that is around you."They recognize the grace of Allah, yet they deny it." (Qur'an 16:83)

UnIslamic weddings

Asalam Alaikum
I would like to tell you all of my first experience of a wedding here in Egypt. I was not shocked, but not prepared. I was not told what it would be like. Don't know if my mother in law did not know or did not think to tell me.

We arrived and right away I could here the zaghrata (noise women make at celebrations using the tongue) and the music. I knew then that it was not going to be very Islamic, but I was here and had to go. Plus it was not just me, I was with my mother in law. And me being new to Egypt I had to stay with her as I don't know how to get around by myself yet. Other wise I would of made a fast appearance and went home.

The music was very loud, I didn't like it, but what could I say. As the women started to arrive I noticed that there was alot of older women and I was like ok this shouldn't be that bad. They are not going to want to sit here and listen to this loud music the whole time. WRONG, they either didn't care, or didn't say anything.

The room starts to fill up with women, and finally they turned the music down a little. Then the bride and groom entered. I was hoping that no men would be in the room, but once again what could I say. I had on make up to, so I had to also put down my eye veil over my niqab(face covering). So I was extremely hot.

Well the bride and groom sit up front then two girls got in front of them and start to dance. SubhanAllah!! And not just dancing, but very provocative belly dancing. I was not happy with this at all. If it would of been just women then I would not of been so upset, but they were doing this right there in front of the groom.

Later they brought in the gold and he put it on her. Then they turned down the lights and put on a slow song and had them do a slow dance, while some of the girls joined hands and circled around them dancing. Then the lights come back on and the girls start to sing and dance around them to a fast song.

Once the bride and groom sit down the belly dancing starts again. By this time I am very uncomfortable. I can't say a thing. No one seemed to be bothered by this. I was wondering where were these girls fathers and mothers. Did they let them dance like that in front of men. SubhanAllah

Then two men come in. One is beating the duff the other is playing some kind of wind instrument. Alhumdillah they did not stay to long.

A little later 2 young boys come in and start dancing with the girls. They may of been mahram to each other, I don't know, but still that to much for me. Alhumdillah my mother in law was ready to go at that point too.

When I got home, I told my in laws how unhappy I was about this and I told them I would not attend any thing like that again. I had to stop my son several times from trying to dance with them. He is only 2 and does not understand, but I am not going to raise my kids like this.

I am not trying to judge anyone, but I want no part in this, and don't want my kids to be around it either.  My mother in law understand my feelings and said next time inshaAllah she will let me know before she takes me to something like this.

A wedding should not began with such haram actions. This is the joining of a man and women in marriage and should be a time to thank Allah and to seek Allah protection and guidance, not a time to boggy woggy. I understand they were happy and wanted to celebrate, but this was to much. I wonder how much Allah was remembered that night.

I would like to ask all of you to pray for this couple. Ask Allah to bless their marriage and to bring their heats close together, and to love each other for Allah.

I would also like to ask you to pray for these young girls who were displaying them selves like that. I really pray that they do not continue down this road, and they can fight the temptations of Shaytan and become pious Muslimahs.

I would not like to take the chance to tell all those looking to make hijrah. Muslim country's are not perfect. Please don't look for an oasis, because you won't find one. But Allahumdilah there is still alot of good in them, things you won't find in non-Muslim country's. Mostly acceptance of you and the fact that they may be bad Muslims, but they still believe Ash Hadu An Lailaha Illal Lahu Wa Ash Hadu Anna Muhammadan Abduhu Wa Rasuluhu(I bear witness that there is no God but Allah and I bear witness that Muhammed is His servant and messenger). It is better to be a bad Muslim then not a Muslim at all. InshaAllah as long as they don't commit shirk(putting partners with Allah or not believing in Him at all) , the only unforgivable sin, then they have a chance of forgiveness from Allah.

Clash or Peaceful Coexistence?

Are Muslims and the West bound to clash? Dr Jafar Sheikh Idris, professor of Islamic studies, Institute of Islamic and Arabic Sciences, Washington, gives an answer which supports the idea of peaceful coexistence.

Is it possible for the inhabitants of our global village to live peacefully together and reap the fruits of science and technology whose pace of advancement is ever increasing? Or are their religious, cultural and civilization differences bound to create clashes and wars among them? The matter is so important that it behooves Muslim intellectuals and statesmen to give it serious thought.

Western intellectuals are very much concerned with this question. But they are by no means agreed on the answer. One view is that the clash between Western civilization and others is inevitable, nay that it is already under way. Another view is that the real clash is within Western culture itself.

A third view is that people all over the world are heading toward Western political liberalism and economic capitalism, and that these systems constitute the end of history in these respects. A fourth view is that peaceful coexistence among people of different cultures and civilizations is possible provided they adopt secular pluralistic democracy.

What is the Islamic standpoint on this important and urgent issue? This paper is an attempt to give a brief answer to that question. But I am not speaking here as a social scientist who describes and explains actual reality; rather I am attempting to describe only theoretically what I consider to be the Islamic standpoint on this issue in our present circumstances. And my short answer is that it is a standpoint that is unequivocally on the side of peaceful coexistence. But to live peacefully with others you need sometimes to be fully prepared for war against them.

REASONS FOR PEACEFUL COEXISTENCE

1. Rationality is an inseparable part of the Islamic religion, and its rationality does include that important ingredient of judging actions by their consequences. but it is of course a rationality which is guided by other Islamic values. The preferred action is always the action which results in the greatest good, or the least evil. The main goods to be achieved in Islam for example, are ones which would be acceptable, in their general sense, to most people. These are: Spiritual well-being, mental well-being, human life, human wealth and honor. Judged by this rational standard and those values, peaceful coexistence and cooperation is definitely to be preferred over wars and clashes in normal circumstances.

2. While some religions, secular ideologies and psychological theories teach that the human person is born evil; while some teach that he is born neutral between good and evil and it is society which directs him one way or the other; and while yet others believe that there is no such thing as human nature; while some brazenly racist and others are discriminatory in other respects, the Islamic position in the words of its Prophet is that every child is born good. Whatever his or her present beliefs or cultural milieu, every human person is a potential Muslim. In viewing people of other beliefs and cultures, Muslims should not forget to see the original nature which lies behind the facade of those cultures.

3. The best favor that a Muslim can therefore do to a non-Muslim is to invite him to Islam, to persuade him or her to come back to their original nature. But in doing so a Muslim is required to bear in mind certain facts, and to abide by certain principles, among which is the fact that since faith is a matter of the heart, no one can be compelled to accept it. This is understood from the verse which reads, "And invite to the way of your Lord with wisdom, and good admonition, and argue with them in the best of ways". How can this be achieved except in a peaceful atmosphere?

4. God tells his Prophet that however keen he is on people accepting the faith, most of them will not. All the same, He tells His Prophet that he is sent as a mercy to them, and that his main task is to never tire of inviting them to the truth.

5. Peaceful coexistence among people belonging to different religions and civilizations makes it easy for them to exchange material and intellectual benefits. It also helps them to cooperate in solving the problems which face them as inhabitants of a global village: Drugs, diseases, pollution, etc. But his ideal picture of peaceful coexistence and cooperation cannot be realized if the West lives in constant fear lest its hegemony be lost, and therefore do its best to prevent others from developing.

6. No rational person who has an idea of the amount of destructive weapons available in the world and the extent of the damage they can cause would hesitate to be against all kinds of wars, local or worldwide. To avoid wars however we must try to eradicate as many of their causes as we can. We must thus stand for justice and against all kinds of unfair treatment and aggression.

7. Muslims should play a big role in this because they are qualified to do so. Islam is a religion which does not compromise on moral values like truth and justice. Believers in Islam are urged to be allies to each other irrespective of race or time or place.

8. Muslims, in my view, have a special stake in peace. If peace prevails, Islam will have a better chance of being heard and accepted in the West, and elsewhere. Many people in the West and other parts of the world are coming back to religion so much so that what is called fundamentalism has become a universal phenomenon. People have discovered that science much as it is respected and valued by them cannot replace religion.

REASONS FOR BEING POWERFUL

Islam is however too realistic a religion to be pacifist. It is one thing to want to live peacefully with others, but quite another to make them have the same attitude toward you. On the whole, people of every culture desire to be more powerful than those who are culturally opposed to them. They take all steps which they deem necessary for the preservation of their cultural identity, and for the subjugation of others. In his new classic paper on clash of civilizations, Huntington tells us with unusual candidness that, "The West is now at an extraordinary peak of power in relation to other civilizations. Apart from Japan the West has no economic challenge. It dominates international political and security institutions, and with Japan economic institutions."

And: "In the post-Cold War, the primary objective of arms control is to prevent the development by non-Western societies of military capabilities that would threaten Western interests. The West attempts to do this through international agreements, economic pressure and controls on the transfer of arms and weapons technologies."

Muslims are therefore enjoined to be materially powerful so as to deter those who might resort to aggression against Muslims or who are prone to use force to subjugate others. Material power can and should thus be an ally to the cause of spiritual development and not a contradictory of it.

Allah Is The Rich, You Are The Poor

By Kamil Mufti

This is a fact that none can escape, yet you go after the treasures of the world and renounce the Lord of Truth.

"Know that the life of this world is but a play and a passing delight and a beautiful show, and the (cause of) your boastful) vying with one another, and (of your) greed for more and more wealth and children." [57:20]

Look at this world with the eyes of your heart, you will find it ugly and loathsome; look at it with your physical eyes and it will lure you to the side and slaughter you.

Be content with whatever Allah has decreed for you.  Fear Allah in your innermost being.  Implement His commands.  Once your heart complies with the Divine Decree, the Lord of Truth will grant you from sources you never imagined:

"And whosoever is conscious of Allah, He will make a way for him to get out (from every difficulty).  And He will provide him from (sources) he never could imagine.  And whoever puts his trust in Allah, then He will suffice him.  Verily, Allah will accomplish His purpose.  Indeed Allah has sent a measure for all things." [65:2-3]

Beg of His mercy; turn to Him with a heart full of sincere repentance.

"O you who believe!  Turn to Allah with sincere repentance." [66:8]

Stand before your Lord with humility, implore the Dispenser of Grace by His Most Beautiful Names and attributes of perfection.  If He fulfills your wish, increase in your gratitude and servitude to Him.  If He denies your request, then succumb to the Divine Decree of the All-Wise with a submissive heart.  Do not argue or object to His will.  Always remember:

"…Allah knows and you know not." [24:19]

Allah disposes of everything as He wills, and commands as He wills:

"He is not to be questioned about what He does, though they are subject to His questioning." [21"23]

If wealth and happiness are destined for you, they will come to you at their appointed time according to the Divine Decree of Allah, the Lord of the heavens and the earth.  Do not be greedy but be moderate because you will receive all that was written for you.  If you do so, you will earn the displeasure of the All Mighty, and lose all spiritual comfort in this life.  Maalik ibn Deenaar once said:

"If you want to acquire true knowledge of Allah, the All Mighty, then consent to His management and planning.  Make not your mind and desire, passion or will associates to Him."

O you of sound health but weak heart!  Wake up and run to your Creator with repentance on your tongue, tears in your eyes, and sincerity in your heart.  Cry before Him, before others cry for you.  Make haste, O heedless one!

"Has not the time come for the hearts of those who believe to be affected by Allah's Reminder…?" [57:16]

Remove the veils of darkness that have corroded your heart. Adorn it with His fear and love.

Do you not fear the moment when you will stand before your Lord?  There will be no screen between Him and you, nor an interpreter to translate for you.  And your Creator will question you.  You will find nothing to your left nor to your right but the blazing Fire of Hell.  Do what the Prophet of Allah advised you, if you truly fear Allah:

"…So let each of you protect himself against Hell-Fire, be it even with half a date - and if he finds not, then with a kind word."

You are the servant, He is the Master.  Prayers come from you, answers come from Him.  Abstinence comes from you, protection comes from Him.  Repentance comes from you, acceptance comes from Him.  Go towards him walking, He will come to you running.

Make your deeds pure for His sake alone, and He will extend His mercy to you.  Upload His religion, and He will extend His bounty to you.  Follow the Sunnah of His beloved, and He will extend His love to you.

Look forward to your meeting with Allah.  It will be very soon.  Sooner than you can imagine!  Make preparations for this meeting.  Get rid of the love of this world from your heart; free it from everything other than the Lord of Truth.  Do not buy the world and pay with the hereafter as a price.  Do not sell the hereafter to acquire this world.

"…Shall We tell you who are the greatest losers in whatever they may do?  Those whose efforts have been wasted in this life while they thought they were acquiring good by their deeds…" [18:103-104]

The Most Wise did not create you to gratify your base desires and passions, nor did He create you for fun, amusement, eating, drinking, sleeping, or having sex!

"I have created the jinns and the humans solely to worship Me." [51:56]

But you are so heedless as if you have drunk the elixir of immortality.  You think that the Angel of Death will never squeeze your soul out of your body?  You have forgotten that you will pass through the Siraat with the intense Fire of Hell underneath you.  You are unaware of the thrashing that awaits you in your grave by the angels of Allah.  Hot stones of Jahannam for you to walk on, herbage bitter than aloes, foul putrid meat to eat, your lips to be cut by coarse scissors, getting trampled under the feet of the people of Pharaoh, screaming with your mouths wide open while the hot coals that you devoured come out of your anuses, cutting your own flesh from the sides to eat it, scratching your chests and faces with brass nails - all this awaits you if you do not pay the zakah, if you fornicate, devour usury, slander others, backbite, or malign people's honor.

This is just the grave, Hell is yet to come!

"…the punishment of the Hereafter is greater, if they but knew." [68:33]

Prophet Muhammad And Evidences Of His Prophethood

All Prophets come with signs and evidences furnished by God that they truly are what they claim to be. Among these signs are miracles witnessed by the people that defy the laws of nature.

Generally, miracles are experienced only by the people who were there when the miracle actually occurred. God, however, furnished the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) with a miracle that would endure for all time. That miracle is the Qur’ân. It is appropriate that the final Messenger should have an enduring miracle, since his Message is binding on Creation until the Last Day.

The Qur’ân is the revealed word of God that God has preserved from corruption. The Qur’ân reads: “Surely We have revealed the Reminder and We will most surely be its guardian.” “No falsehood can approach it from before or behind it. It is sent down by One Full of Wisdom, Worthy of Praise.”

In the Qur’ân, God challenges the Arabs to produce something like it. “Say: ‘If the whole of humanity and the Jinn were to gather together to produce the like of this Qur’ân, they could not produce the like thereof, even if they backed up each other with help and support.”

This challenge was reduced even further to the point where only one chapter of the Qur’ân was needed: “And if you are in doubt as to that which We have revealed to Our servant, then produce a chapter like it and call on your witnesses besides God if you are truthful. But if you do not do it, and never shall you do it, then fear the fire whose fuel is men and stones, prepared for the unbelievers.”

This is Islam’s eternal miracle. The challenge remains open and unmet to this very day. There are many aspects of the Qur’ân’s miraculous inimitability. Among these are its eloquence and its style.

The Arabs were given this challenge and they were the masters of their language and were well known for their eloquence. Not one of them, however, could produce a single chapter comparable to the Qur’ân.

Today, we are conveying this challenge once again to all humanity. This challenge has stood for over 1400 years and continues to be a testimony to the truth of the Qur’ân and the Messenger who brought it. The enemies of Islam have always had in this challenge a perfect opportunity to prove Islam false. They definitely had enough reason to try. It would have surely been much less strenuous for them to pick up the pen and write then to pick up the sword and die trying to suppress Islam. It would have been far less costly than the time and money they spent on fighting against Islam.

We feel that by conveying this challenge we have done our duty. It becomes the duty of the one who hears it to hear the Qur’ân in its entirety and not to rely on unbelievers for their information but go directly to the source.

Another proof that Muhammad (peace be upon his) is God’s Messenger is the strength of the religion that he was sent with and the fact that it has been preserved from corruption. We can see all the scholarly disciplines that developed around it over the ages and how Islam was able to respond to all the changes that took place throughout history. Islam has retained its strength while the Muslim world has passed through periods of strength and weakness and of freedom and occupation.

Among the evidence that Muhammad (peace be upon him) is a Prophet of God is the fact that his coming was foretold by the Prophets who came before. In their books and their statements they described him and his followers. They even mentioned him by name. The Qur’ân states this fact in the following verses:

“And when Jesus the son of Mary said: ‘O Children of Israel! Lo! I am the Messenger of God unto you, confirming that which was revealed before me in the Torah and bringing glad tidings of a Messenger who cometh after me, whose name shall be the Praised One.’ Yet when he hath come unto them with clear proofs, they say: This is mere magic.”

“Those who follow the Messenger, the Prophet who can neither read nor write, whom they will find described in the Torah and the Gospel which are with them. He will enjoin on them that which is right and forbid them that which is wrong. He will make lawful for them all good things and prohibit for them only the foul; and he will relieve them of their burden and the fetters that they used to wear. Then those who believe in him, and honor him, and help him, and follow the light which is sent down with him: they will be the ones to prosper.”

In spite of the distortions and deletions made by some Jewish rabbis and Christian priests to their sacred texts, and in spite of the incorrect interpretations they imposed on them, there still remains within those texts enough to establish the proof of Muhammad (peace be upon him) being a prophet of God. To highlight a few of the places in their texts wherein his coming is foretold, we request from you to look at the following: Deuteronomy [33:1] and [18:15-19], Isaiah [42:1-5], Habakkuk [3:3], Song of Solomon [72:1-19], John [14:16] and [14:26], and 1John [2:1].

Another proof that Muhammad (peace be upon him) was a prophet of God is the history of his mission, the events of his life, the success of his followers, and how swiftly Islam spread throughout the nations of the world.

The attributes of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and his mode of conduct show us that he was truly a prophet of God. He was, in every aspect of his character, an exemplary human being and history has never witnessed anyone else like him.

He was of good appearance and was always neatly dressed, preferring to wear white. He was clean and commanded others to observe cleanliness. When a person approached him and told him that he liked to wear nice clothes and nice shoes, the prophet (peace be upon him) replied by saying: “God is beautiful and He loves beauty.” He was of impeccable taste and had a discriminating palate, but was never ostentatious or frivolous. He said: “A son of Adam can fill no vessel worse than his stomach It is enough for him to eat enough to keep him standing straight. If he must consume more, then he may fill a third of his stomach with food, a third with drink, and a third should be left for air.” His manners were refined and he was well spoken. He was cheerful and would greet people with a smile. Those who met him liked him instantly and would never tire of his company or conversation. In fact, those who sat in his company would often forget everything else in the world while they were with him. They felt in awe of his presence, not because he was powerful like a king or despot, but because of the strength of his character and his devotion to God.

One of his most pronounced character traits was his capacity for mercy. He had great love and compassion for the poor and preferred to sit and partake of meals in their company. He showed great empathy for the sick and would go out of his way to help them. He would not leave a sick person or a child in need without fulfilling that need. He showed mercy to the orphans and encouraged people to care for them. He had great affection for children and would often carry babies and make them laugh. He taught his followers that children had the right to play and to be humored.

His mercy extended even to animals. He commanded his followers to be kind to the animals in their care and prohibited abusing them He instructed that animals used for food should be slaughtered carefully and with compassion. He reprimanded a man for overburdening his camel and failing to give it sufficient nourishment. He also informed us that a woman once was consigned to Hell for her mistreatment of a cat. She had locked it up and denied it food until it starved to death. Conversely, a prostitute received God’s forgiveness and entered heaven because she showed pity on a thirsty dog and gave it water. Once he was asked if people were rewarded for the good treatment they gave to animals. The Prophet (peace be upon him) replied: “For every creature possessing a liver there is a reward.”

Added to his mercy was his courage. Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was among the most courageous of people. His was not the courage of tyrants but a courage that stemmed from faith in the promise of God. It was the courage of someone who lived according to the religion of God and considered the pleasure of God more important than life itself. He was always present in the battlefield during war, and when things became severe, he would be seen fighting in the front lines. He would remain firm even when other brave men would turn to flee.

He never hesitated in the face of falsehood and never ceased to call to the truth, even when most of the people of the Earth were opposed to him. He never wavered on any of his principles but continued to enjoin what was right and forbid what was wrong.

He was also very forgiving to those who wronged him. He never became angry or hateful on a personal level. No matter how greatly someone wronged him when he was weak, he would show that person clemency when he was in a position of power. He would accept excuses even when he knew that the one making the excuse was lying. He would even make excuses for those who wronged him and did not offer excuses of their own.

He was the most generous of people. He gave in charity like a person who had no fear of poverty. He never once refused to give to someone who asked. He gave everything that came into his possession to the poor and the needy. He would prefer his guests to himself and the members of his household. He usually sufficed himself and his family with dates and water and months would sometimes go by without a cooking fire being lit in his house.

He was at the same time a most exemplary husband. He was very affectionate and caring. He was quick to overlooked mistakes. He never once hit one of his wives, nor did he ever raise his voice to them or ridicule them. He always showed kindness. He would indulge them in anything that was not sinful. He shared in the housework and took care of himself. He mended his own clothes and shoes. He always exhorted his male followers to be good to their wives and warned them against mistreating them. He made sure to do so during his greatest sermon which he gave during his farewell pilgrimage.

Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was kind to his servants. He commanded his followers not to overwork their servants and commanded that they must eat the same food that the members of the household eat and wear clothing of the same quality. Anas b. Mâlik said: “I worked as a servant for the Prophet (peace be upon him) in his residence and on his journeys. No matter what I did, he never once said to me: “Now why did you do that?” Likewise, no matter what I might have failed to do, he never once said to me: “Now why didn’t you do that?”

Once the Prophet (peace be upon him) saw a man beating his slave. The Prophet said to him: “God is more capable of punishing you than you are of punishing him.”

Upon hearing this, the man stopped and said: “I set him free for the sake of God.”

The Prophet (peace be upon him) then said: “If you did not free him, you would have been touched by the fire.”

The Prophet (peace be upon him) was extremely shy and modest. He hated foul speech He never once uttered a foul word. He said: “A strong sense of shame is a good quality in every way.” He also said: “Nothing but good comes from having a strong sense of shame.”

He was also very humble. He taught his followers: “None will enter Paradise who has within his heart an atom’s weight of pride.” He used to sit on the floor and eat. He forbade his companions from standing in honor when he entered the room. When he walked, he never expected anyone to move out of the way. He never allowed himself to stand out in his dress or his steed. He never seated himself in a place of honor when he was in the company of others.

Above all of these qualities was his devotion to God. He immersed himself in worship and eschewed the pleasures of the world. The remembrance and praise of God was always on his lips. He always sought the forgiveness of his Lord. His reverence of God often brought him to tears. He fasted so much that it sometimes seemed that he never went a day without fasting. He spent long stretches of the night standing in prayer until his ankles would swell. When he was asked why he worshipped so much when God had forgiven him all of his past and future sins, he replied: “Should I not then be a grateful servant?”

These are just a few of his noble qualities. There is no way we can do justice to him in such a short time. The combination of worldly and spiritual perfection that he exhibited was a miracle in and of itself and a testimony to his truly being a prophet of God.

Hopefully there is an empty seat and they will move around a little to give me a 3rd seat, sometimes they are nice like that. And ususally people don't want to sit by babys anyway lol.
